Research and Innovation Framework
Advancing Environmental Health, Human Resilience and Integrative Inquiry
Why Research Matters to Our Mission
+
At A Cure for Issa, healing is not just a conversation. It is a living inquiry.
Since our founding in 2016, we have explored how environment, physiology and lived experience intersect in chronic illness and recovery. In 2026, our Board formally adopted a structured Research and Innovation Framework to support transparent, ethical and mission-aligned investigation.
Our research initiatives focus on:
- Environmental adaptation
- Autonomic regualtion
- Human resilience in extreme or variable climates
- Integrative health exploration
- Field-based observational study
We believe that healing exists at the intersection of science, environment and community.
Environmental Adaptation and Autonomic Regulation (EAAR)
+
In 2026, the Board formally adopted the Environmental Adaptation and Autonomic Regulation (EAAR) Research Program.
EAAR explores how environmental exposure—including cold, altitude and maritime polar conditions—may influence:
- Nervous system response
- Autonomic regulation
- Physiological adaptation
- Recovery processes
This framework integrates expedition-based field observation with structured documentation and transparent reporting standards.
Cold as Medicine – Phase I
+
Our case study titled:
“Cold as Medicine: Exploring the Body’s Healing Response in Extreme Climate Environments”
was pre-registered through the Open Source Framework (OSF) on February 14, 2026.
Pre-registration demonstrates our commitment to:
- Research transparency
- Public accountability
- Methodological clarity
- Ethical documentation
The study is embargoed through February 14, 2028, with findings expectd to be shared upon completion and review.
Field Validation Study – Phase II
+
Building upon Phase I, the organization is advancing:
Cold as Medicine – Phase II: Ecological validation study currently in development
This phase integrates filed-based maritime polar exposure with structured physiological documentation.
All research activities are exploratory and observational in nature.
Commitment to Transparency and Integrity
+
- Research programs are formally adopted through Board resolution.
- Pre-registration is used when appropriate.
- All governance records are maintained in the official corporate record book.
- External funding sources are transparently disclosed.
A Cure for Issa does not provide clinical treatment through its research activities.
Research Governance and Institutional Overview
Research Governance Structure
+
The Research and Innovation Framework operates under:
- Board oversight
- Formal written consent governance resolutions
- Multi-officer fiduciary review
- Annual compliance documentation
Research initiatives are adopted through formal Board action and documented within the organization’s official record book.
Funding Transparency
+
Where applicable, expedition-based research initiatives may be funded through external private entities. No charitable donor funds are used.
This separation ensures:
- Clear accounting boundaries
- No commingling of funds
- Donor intent protection
- Regulatory compliance
Research Positioning
+
The organization’s research focus sits at the intersection of:
- Environmental exposure science
- Integrative physiology
- Human adaptation
- Field-based ecological validation
All research is exploratory and non-clinical unless otherwise disclosed.
Future Collaboration Opportunities
+
A Cure for Issa welcomes collaboration in:
- Environmental physiology research
- Autonomic regulation study
- Human resilience research
- Expedition-based field validation
- Institutional research partnerships
- Sponsored humanitarian logistics research
Formal proposals may be submitted via our Contact page.
Disclaimer: Research initiatives conducted by A Cure for Issa are exploratory and observational in nature and are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions.
Research Transparency and Ethics
+
A Cure for Issa is committed to conducting research activities with transparency, integrity and governance oversight.
All research initiatives are formally adopted through Board action and documented in the organization’s official corporate record book. Research programs are exploratory and observational in nature unless otherwise explicitly disclosed.
Where applicable, studies may be pre-registered through recognized public research registries to promote methodological clarity and accountability. For example, the case study titled Cold as Medicine: Exploring the Body’s Healing Response in Extreme Climate Environments was pre-registered through the Open Science Framework (OSF) and is subject to embargo in accordance with registry guidelines.
The organization does not provide clinical treatment through its research activities. Research initiatives are designed to explore environmental and physiological inquiry and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent medical conditions.
Funding sources are transparently separated. Where expedition-based research is supported by external private entities, such funding is maintained independently from charitable donor contributions. The organization does not commingle nonprofit program funds with externally funded research activities.
All governance records, funding disclosures and annual filings are maintained in compliance with applicable federal and California nonprofit regualtions.
